i understand that enough topsoil is lost from an area sufficent 2 feed europe population in a year.. at the rate soil degradation is happening,do u think the human will b able 2 feed itself in the future?

My Demonized Dog....

what is the most off the wall thing you've heard from a jw?.

here is mine..... a month ago my dad (disassociated) gave me a dog named lucky.

trying to get lucky used to his new home and new people we put him in a kennel when we would leave.

I used to have problems with demons until I had YHWH tattooed on my ass..
Now when ever I hear a strange noise or feel scared I simply drop my pants and stick my ass up as high as I can get it and yell take that demons...
Well you should see how all the demonized people scatter especially in Costco and the grocery store.

Well, that story is a bit embelished.

To set the matter straight, what really happened is this:

shotgun walked into a Cost Cutters Hair Salon [not Costco].

He then felt the presence of demons, and therefore dropped his drawers to ward off the evil spirits

With his hairy ass in the air, shotgun was then asked by the lady at the front desk this question:

"Sir, are you here to have your mohawk trimmed?"

I'm a Volunteer!

well there've been a couple of times since i left the witnesses when i've looked into doing some volunteer work, once with the public library and once with the county democratic party.

but neither one panned out.. today, however, i met with a board member of yffn, the local gay-rights organization.

they need some database work and possibly some other computer help; and i'm going to their office on saturday to see what i can do.. i also had my first letter to the editor published on sunday... it was opposing a proposed amendement to the state constitution to ban gay marriage.. i've been wanting to do volunteer work for some time, and i've also been wanting to be involved in political advocacy in some way.

in 1998 the wt addressed concerns where many felt like they served prison time needlessly due to refusal of alternative civilian service which upto 1996 had been considered the same as military service.

*** w98 8/15 p. 17 strengthening our confidence in gods righteousness ***feelings of having suffered needlessly.

6 in the past, some witnesses have suffered for refusing to share in an activity that their conscience now might permit.

Then They dropped the "Alternative Service" rule-- WHICH USED TO STATE that you could not take any substitute job in place of going to the army, if so you would be DFed)
(I had a very good friend an older Elder when I was in New York who went to Prison for 3yrs instead of working at the hospital due to that rule.
He has had some problems since being in prison.
Now I have NEVER ASKED HIM AND I NEVER WILL but from everyone I know who should be in the know
Tells me that this bro was raped repeatedly while he was in prison as a 19 yrs old kid and I will never ask him directly about it.
I stated that to say this: When they changed the alternative service rule he called me up and he broke down and cried The Society has tried to present this as "their CONSCIENCES WERE JUST VERY STRICT IS WHY THEY WENT TO PRISON" WHILE THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS that IS A LIE As he put it.
during the Vietnam War all the young bro were getting draft letters Him and his mama went to the elders to get advice and they shared with him the Current position in the wt---- where basically it stated if you are Loyal you will not take the alternative job--GO TO JAIL OR BE DFED---POINT BLANK--
So as he put it ---IT was not a conscience matter ---he thought he was being loyal to god
To this very day he has slowed down and step aside as an elder He still wants to hold on to WT world, but he is a crushed man

If there is a loving god, the WTS will pay for crap like this

Here's what you gotta do:

Change Lucky's name to YHWH and I'm postive that the demons will leave your dog alone.

Good night, I never realized how superstitious we were as JW's either.

Like the dogs name will really make demons attack it.

And never could the explanation be that the dog was just lonely and scared.

i was raised in 'the truth ' from the age of 9, when my parents came 'into the truth'.

i was the perfect little witness girl, went out in field service - without complaint, gave talks (well the way you do in two's when you are female!

), i was even on the list of people they called on when someone did not turn up to give their talk and would get up with only 30 min prep time!

Jehovah's Witnesses...witnessing!

i recently (christmas day....as usual!

) had a knock on the door and met two very polite jws who offered me a watchtower magazine(i think?

) and wanted me to read it.

offered to let them have a book about my Christian faith but they did not accept it and said they couldn't? Why?

Want to know what my smart-ass reply was to that question?

When offered other literature at the door I would say:

"I've been talking to people going door to door since I was 12 years old and I have talked to literaly thousands of people. There is nothing that you could show me that I haven't already seen."

Deep down though it always bugged the hell outta me that I couldn't take the literature.

Should I be over it by now?

i was 16 when i disassociated myself from the jws after growing up in it, and i'm 20 now and still having issues with breaking the thought process i was brought up with.

i long ago realized the doctrine was wrong in the jws, but somehow i still find myself having issues with guilt whenever i stop to feel or act or think a way that's my own and not what someone else tells me i should feel/act/think.

other times i feel completely lost because i don't know how i'm supposed to feel or act or think at the moment and i know that's not the way i should be thinking, that there isn't a particular way i'm supposed to be inside, but... i still have the paranoia and the gut feeling that i'm doing wrong by being myself, so to speak.
